2019 Sunday Schedule Released

The Montello Granite Jaxx have released their Sunday League schedule for the 2019 season. The Home Talent League’s Eastern Section has the Jaxx playing a 16 game double round robin against the division’s remaining 8 teams. All Sunday league games are played at 1:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

This season opens with a bang as the Jaxx start with two games against 2018 playoff teams. On April 28th Montello opens by traveling to Monona, followed by the 2019 home opener on May 5th against the defending Eastern Section Champions from Cottage Grove.

Other highlights on the schedule include a road-trip to Poynette on June 2nd for an annual double header, as well as a home clash on Memorial Day against another 2018 playoff team in Portage.

This season the Granite Jaxx are looking to capture a third straight Eastern Section regular season crown, along with a return to the HTL Final Four by winning the division’s post-season bracket, which they last did in 2017.

Montello 11 Marshall 1

Defending Eastern Section champion Montello got its title defense off to a successful start, scoring five runs in the fifth inning on its way to an 11-1 win over host Marshall in eight innings on Sunday. The Granite Jaxx clubbed 18 hits in the win, and were led at the plate by Ryan Pollesch and DJ Raasch with three hits apiece.

Curtis Morgan got the win for the Granite Jaxx, giving up just one run on no hits over five innings of work.

Montello’s ninth-inning rally comes up short in loss to Stoughton

The Granite Jaxx came up just short in their final game of 2017, losing to the Stoughton Merchants 5-4. With the win, Stoughton became the 2017 HTL Champions. Curtis Morgan threw all 9 innings, striking out 5. D.J. Raasch went 4×5, Nate Andrews 3×5, Mitchell Susa 2×3.

Montello walks off against Portage 4-3 in 11 innings to reach Final Four

In a thrilling Eastern Section Final, Montello defeated Portage 4-3 in walk-off fashion. Curtis Morgan drove in Nick Polcyn with two outs in the bottom of the 11th to secure the victory.

Morgan threw 7 innings giving up 3 earned runs, on 5 hits, striking out 6, and walking 2. Carter Daniels recorded the W, throwing the game’s final 4 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits, striking out 3, and walking 1.

Curtis Morgan, Nate Andrews, and Nick Uhen each went 2×5 to lead the Jaxx. Morgan also hit the game’s only home run.

Montello smokes Monona, advances to Eastern Section final

Montello wins its first ever Sunday League Playoff game! The Granite Jaxx defeated the Monona Braves 11-2 to advance to the Eastern Section Finals. The Jaxx started the momentum with a 5-run 3rd inning and never looked back, scoring at least one run in every inning to follow.

Curtis Morgan received the W after starting the game and throwing 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 earned runs, while striking out 3 and walking none. Carter Daniels threw the final 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and no runs, while striking out 4.
